Kobe Bryant leaves game with ankle injury, but returns

Kobe Bryant played through a sprained ankle to lead the Lakers to a 96-91 win over the Dallas Mavericks.

Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant left a game against the Dallas Mavericks Saturday night late in the third quarter with a sprained ankle. Bryant and Lakers fans feared the worst, as the injury looked worse than it actually was. Bryant fell when Shawn Marion stole the ball with 1 minute and 52 seconds remaining. After being checked by the trainer, Bryant returned to the game. The Lakers beat the Mavericks 96-91 on the road. Bryant scored 16 points, and had five rebounds, four assists and three steals, but shot poorly from the floor, at 6-20. Los Angeles plays Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic at home Monday night, a rematch of the 2009 NBA Finals.
