Kane to have surgery, out 6-8 weeks

Patrick Kane, 2010 Stanley Cup hero, will have surgery on his fractured wrist.

Chicago Blackhawks star and 2010 Stanley Cup hero Patrick Kane will have surgery on his fractured left wrist and is expected to be out for at least 6-8 weeks. Kane is expected by the Blackhawks to be back in time for training camp. Kane himself said that he injured the wrist in the second to last game of the regular season when playing against the Detroit Red Wings. Kane amassed 73 points this season, when his numbers were slightly down coming off a Stanley Cup winning season in 2010/2011. Kane was a key player in the Blackhawks’ run to their first title in 40+ years, scoring the series-winning goal in Game 6 on the road in Philadelphia, and celebrated his first Stanley Cup win. Kane’s injury is similar to the recent injury to St. Louis Cardinals star Albert Pujols, but Pujols came back in a lot quicker time than the 6-8 weeks expected, and returned before the All-Star Break. The Blackhawks open their season against the Dallas Stars on Friday, October 7th, 2011.

I was surprised when I heard of this because it has been so long since that time – at least he will be ready for the season to start.
