VCU beats USC

The VCU Rams beat the USC Trojans Wednesday night in the "First Four."

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) proved their NCAA tournament worth by beating the University of Southern California Trojans (USC) 59-46 in the final “First Four” matchup. Jamie Skeen scored 16 points for the Rams, the underdog against the favored Trojans. Both teams, 11th-ranked teams, were close throughout the game, but the Trojans were shut down in the last quarter of the game, scoring only 11 points in the last 10 minutes of the second half. VCU will next play Georgetown in the next round, at Friday at 9:50 PM Eastern Time on TNT. Jio Fontan scored 14 for USC. The Rams are best remembered as the 11th seed that upset Duke in the 2007 NCAA Tournament.
