Bryce Harper demoted

Bryce Harper was demoted to Single-A after the Nationals' win over the Yankees.

The top pick of the 2010 Rule 4 Draft, (also known as the Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft) Bryce Harper has been demoted to the Washington Nationals’ single-A affiliate for an unknown period. There was no problem with his production, as the 18-year old was hitting a stellar .389 in Spring Training. Nationals GM Mike Rizzo thinks that Harper needs some more seasoning and that he’ll get that with the single-A club. Harper, a former catcher in college, was drafted as an outfielder, and has played in the outfield this Spring Training. Harper went 0 for 0 with a hit by pitch in the Nats’ 6-5 walk off victory against the New York Yankees. Harper will likely rejoin the club in midseason.
