Bobcats send Wallace to Portland

Gerald Wallace has made a name for himself on the defensive end of the game during his tenure with the Charlotte Bobcats. That tenure came to an end Thursday, as Wallace was traded to Portland.

The Portland Blazers have received Gerald Wallace from the cost-cutting Charlotte Bobcats. For Wallace, the Blazers gave up injury-prone center Joel Pryzbilla, former Villanova Wildcat Dante Cunningham, and Sean Marks. Charlotte also received two future 1st round draft picks, one in 2011, and the other in 2013. Michael Jordan, GM of the Bobcats, made this deal less than 10 minutes before the trade deadline. Wallace, averaging 15.6 points and 8.2 rebounds this year, has become known more as a defensive force, and made his first NBA All-Star team last season. Charlotte, who is 25-32, is only currently 1 1/2 games out of the final spot in the Eastern Conference. This move further rids the Bobcats of their talent, and Wallace was in trade rumors for months now.
