Injuries get worse for Pittsburgh

Evgeni Malkin has a torn ACL and MCL.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have Sidney Crosby out, and Evgeni Malkin just returning from a knee and sinus infection that robbed him of the last 5 games and a trip to the All-Star Game. It looks like he’ll be out a while longer. Malkin tore his ACL and MCL in his right knee, and might need surgery. Malkin has 15 goals and 22 assists on the season. Malkin was hurt Friday night against the Buffalo Sabres when knocking into defenseman Tyler Myers. Pittsburgh is in first in the Atlantic Division and only one point behind Eastern Conference leading Philadelphia Flyers. Crosby’s return date is unknown, as he suffers from a concussion.
