Miami survives a close call

James led all scorers with 39 points in the win.

The Miami Heat beat the far less talented Detroit Pistons 88-87 Friday in Miami. LeBron James led all scorers with 39 points, but a lob that was blocked by James Jones sealed the win. Both Chris Bosh and Dwyane Wade missed the game with injuries, Bosh with an ankle sprain, Wade with a wrist injury. Tracy McGrady came within 2 rebounds of a triple double, scoring 14 points, and adding 10 assists and 8 rebounds. He also totaled 4 blocks. Miami is still tied with the Chicago Bulls, who also won Friday night, for second place in the Eastern Conference with a 32-14 record. The Heat improved to 17-5 at home, American Airlines Arena.
