Notable Day 8 scheduled matches and predictions

#4 Robin Soderling vs. Alexandr Dolgopolov

Prediction: Soderling in four sets

#5 Andy Murray vs. #11 Jurgen Melzer

Prediction: Murray in 4 sets

#1 Rafael Nadal vs. #15 Marin Cilic

Prediction: Nadal in 3 sets

#7 David Ferrer vs. Milos Raonic

Prediction: Raonic in 5 sets

Match to watch:  Murray vs. Melzer, Ferrer vs. Raonic, and Nadal vs. Cilic

Why: So hard to choose here. Murray should have a tough time with Melzer, who’s gone under the radar throughout this tournament and should you mention his name, the casual tennis fan would not probably recognize it. I picked Raonic to continue his surprise run and beat Ferrer, who, in my mind, is not worthy of a 7th seed. Raonic destroyed tenth seeded Russian Mikhail Youzhny in the previous round, and I don’t see any reason for him to slow down. Nadal will have a tough test with Cilic, but I picked him to win in straight sets. The only reason he’s on this list is because Cilic is a towering guy, and his serve and forehand might make things close; But expect Nadal to have few problems.
