NHL All Star Game captains selected

The Detroit Red Wing’s Niklas Lidstrom and the host Carolina Hurricane’s Eric Staal will be the two captains for the NHL All-Star Game in Raleigh, North Carolina. This year, the NHL decided to switch from the traditional Eastern Conference vs. Western Conference to more of a street hockey or pickup hockey setup, where the captains choose their players. The 42 players were chosen 1 week ago. You can see the list at the bottom of this post. The All-Star Game festivities will kick off on January 28th and run to the 30th. The switch was largely in part to the All-Star Game’s TV ratings going down at the same time as the emergence of the Winter Classic, an outdoor hockey game once a year that was played this year in Pittsburgh.
