Australian Open Day 2 review and look ahead:Men

Notable completed Matches

#1 Rafael Nadal defeats Marcos Daniel 6-0, 5-0 (retired)

#27 David Nalbandian defeats Lleyton Hewitt 3-6, 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (7-1), 7-6 (9-7)

#5 Andy Murray defeats Karol Beck 6-3, 6-1, 4-2 (retired)

#4 Robin Soderling defeats Potito Starace 6-4, 6-2, 6-4

Juan Martin Del Potro defeats Dudi Sela 7-6 (13-11), 6-4, 6-4

Thoughts: No surprise to see Nadal easily pass through the first round, even though he’s recovering from the flu. Nice to see Del Potro settle down after a rough first set, and even better to see him on the court. Great match between Nalbandian and Hewitt, reminded you of before the Nadal-Federer rivalry took over tennis. As expected, Soderling and Murray ran right through their opponents.

Notable Day 3 matches and predictions

#8 Andy Roddick vs. Igor Kunitsyn

Prediction: Roddick in three sets

#2 Roger Federer vs. Gilles Simon

#6 Tomas Berdych vs. Philipp Kohlschreiber

Match to watch:

Federer vs. Simon

Why: As said above, Simon is 2-0 against Federer, and quite possibly the great Fed might be a little tired from playing two days ago. Keep an eye on it.
