Jim Harbaugh takes 49ers job

Former Stanford head coach Jim Harbaugh accepted a head coaching job with the San Francisco 49ers, and he already has high hopes.

Harbaugh called the 49ers “one of the legendary franchises in football” and says his goal is a Super Bowl ring. Harbaugh, who is the brother of John Harbaugh, the head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, is reportedly getting a 5-year, $25 million deal. Former Chicago Bears linebacker Mike Singletary was fired after 2-plus seasons. Harbaugh leaves Stanford after a 12-1 season, a 40-12 win over Virginia Tech in the Orange Bowl, and star quarterback staying for his junior season.
