Crosby’s streak broken

The Pittsburgh Penguins were shocked by the New York Islanders, and lost, 2-1 in a shootout. Perhaps just as important, Sidney Crosby had his career-high points streak snapped at 25 games, right before the Winter Classic. Josh Bailey and Chris Conner scored for the Islanders and Penguins in regular time. After a scoreless overtime, the game went to a shootout, where the heavy underdog Islanders prevailed, 3-2. Rick DiPietro went for 37 saves, 12 more than Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. Crosby was coming off one of his best games of the season, scoring 2 goals and adding 2 assists in a 6-3 rout of the Atlanta Thrashers. The Winter Classic on Saturday is predicted to have icy rain and unseasonally warm temperatures, making the status of the game not yet determined.

Crosby will likely rise to the occasion. Truly amazing how he does it. I hope for a good game, where the weather doesnt come into play.
