On Wednesday, an already banged up Boston Celtics club lost Kevin Garnett to a leg injury when going up for a dunk against the Detroit Pistons. Garnett’s X-Rays were negative for any fractures and is expected not to miss to much time, but the Celtics were hampered, obviously shown through their dismal effort in a 104-92 loss. In the same leg, Garnett has had surgery, which made head coach Doc Rivers fear the worst.
“You’ve heard me say it before, an injury when no one is around, that’s usually a severe one. I was thinking it was a bad one, but let’s hope not. I don’t think it is, but we’ll find out later,” he said, relieved that Garnett shouldn’t miss a long period of time. Garnett’s timetable has not yet been determined. KG is having one of his best seasons in a Celtics uniform, averaging about 15 points and 10 rebounds a night.
